Default My new (used) heirloom mug

When I mentioned to my youngest brother that I had been shaving with straits a couple weeks ago he offered to give me the family hierloom shaving mug. E. G. Feurer was my fathers grandfather on his mothers side so it was my great grandfathers. I was amazed he was willing to let it go. We all so coveted anything associated with my fathers family after his passing, dividing up the estate was a bit rough. I guess it always is. I was impressed with his generousity and will treasure it.

Nice Mug!Two schools of thought occur to me.Use it and honor him that way,or put it away to avoid dropping it.

You make a good point. While my brother believes in using old tools as much as I and expects it to be used, using it has added a new level of anxiety to a shave. My face can heal and a razor can be replaced but one slip with great grampas mug and I'll be crying. If I leave it on the shelf, I can admire it everday and concentrate more on the shave.

It wont hurt though to use it once in a while. I got to hone and shave with my grandfathers razor about a year ago after my uncle wanted me to clean it up. I cleaned it, honed it and after a good stropping that Griffon shaved like a dream and brought back a lot of memories of him, it was like being together again for a few good moments.
