    Default Handmade Mugs/Scuttles/etc.

Hi! I've been dabbling in the art of ceramics for almost two years now. I almost bought a mug with my first razor, but my brother reminded me that I am perfectly capable of making my own! I almost slapped myself for not thinking of that. Anyway, I'm looking for some advice or suggestions for the shape or features for mugs, scuttles, or soap dishes. Sure, I could go look at thousands of pictures, but I want user input on this. I feel I could get much better info from a great group of experienced shavers (SRP!!) that I ever could from pictures or reviews. I've heard about various things such as a ribbed surface and double walled pieces, but my inexperienced self isn't quite sure what to make of it all. Any input would be awesome!

    Thanks!

Here are some examples to ponder.

Ribbed interiors are nice as they help build and hold the lather. Double walls are good in you are planning on making a scuttle that would hold water in between the walls. Please let us know how you make out on these. You may have people wanting you to make them one

If going with a scuttle, please consider a larger than normal warm/hot water capacity (at least larger than the Georgetown Pottery Scuttle)

The double sized DirtyBird is amazing!

Once I get around to it in a month or so, I plan on posting some pictures for everybody to see. And as far as people wanting them, I might consider making some extras and putting them in the For Sale section of the forum or donating for the giveaways....

I have a regular scuttle from Dirty Bird Pottery on the way, but I'd still be interested in anything you might make.

+1 on all of that, but I think a textured finish might be better than ribs myself. No basis for comparison, I, but that's the way I imagine it. Yes, please keep us posted.
