    Default NEW B

Hello, I am a new comer to this forum but a seasoned turner. Thanks to a forum member I've ventured into the realm of straight razors and brushes. :-)

Below is a picture of my work, if you guys don't mind, would you leave some feed back on my last project? Good, bad or indifferent, it really doesn't matter. Thank you all.

Welcome to SRP. I'm no expert but it looks like mighty nice work to me.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Sir, it does matter. Take some pride.

That is a beautiful handle. It would look even better with a silver tip badger brush head in it. Have you gone to golden nib or blankity blanks for the hair. I have a golden nib silver tip in one that I refurbed and I love it.

Welcome to the insanity. Make yourself a vendor. I would love to buy some handles so that I can put my own knot in it.

I hope you guys don't mind the large pictures and incesive posting, but here are 4 more handles that were turned just for fun. None are finished yet, just roughed out. And thank you for the heads up on the knot websites.

    Very nice work.

    Wood type?

What type of finish do you plan to use?

I've done one in cocobolo, and the other 5 are all in Olive. As for the finishes, I like to go with the natural stuff... typically heat up some walnut oil/ beeswax concoction to about 140-160 and let them cure over night. I have a mallet that was done is this way about 6 years ago and not one crack in on it. :-)

BTW, this is the second handle from anatomical left. I redid it to reflect a simpler less busy contour.

Do you have any plans to sell the handles, either with, or without knots? I really like the contours. What size knot do you see them taking?

This is deffinatly my last picture of the day.

Below is a makeup brush made of zebra wood and finished in shelac, the knot size is a nice 24mm.

Since it will not be around water there is no issue with the finish.

A bit off topic, I know but there were no other knots near my grasp other than this old beat up Revlon one typically used as a dust brush.

Excellent work. As you can see, there are plenty of folks who appear to be jumping at the chance to buy some of your brushes.

If you have interesting in selling, you should seriously consider a post over in the vendors' corner.
