Well the thing is, I live in Finland, so no walmart for me. There are supermarkets here, but there's not so much pharmacy stuff in those. What is the intended uses of the glyserin you use (what is it marketed for)? Might be easier to find if I knew that... But thanks

Ok. I'll see if I can find them from the pharmacy.

FWIW, I have a badger brush that's OK, but I love my boar brush. For my likes, badger is too soft and after making a nice lather, it's like lathering with a feather duster. So, I tried a boar brush, a Vulfix that cost $8.00. Fantastic lather! Thick, creamy, and lasts.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

The boar brush I have has a knot of 30mm and loft of 55/65mm and I have found it a bit too big for my tastes. My mainstay is a synthetic body shop brush that I like very much. A bit smaller but still lathers well. I've been wanting to buy a badger, but haven't chosen one yet, though I've been ogling semogues.

Thanked: 137Ursus - I got my Glycerin from the local pharmacy - it's also known as glycerol, and can be used as a sweetener, humectant (humidity stabiliser for things like cigar humidors), or an emollient (skin moisturiser). Try amongst the dietary supplements and that sort of stuff - I'm pretty sure that's where I found mine. Or you could just ask the assistant - even easier for you.

ursus,
I had very similar issues as you when I transitioned from badger to boar (which I use quite a bit now). What I do that seems to work well is soak the brush with hot water while I shower. Then, I refresh the water in my scuttle take my brush and give it 3 little shake and go to my puck for 20-40 seconds loading the brush before either face lathering or moving to my bowl. It's rare that I need to add any more water during the lather building, and I generate enough lather for 4 or 5 passes.
In short, my guess is using more product will improve your results (in conjunction with the advice offered by the other gents).
