Thanked: 121Quick question
Is there any functional difference between the two- and the three-band Simpson Super brushes? I see the cosmetic difference (not important to me), but is there a difference in brush feel, lathering qualities, etc.? I ask because I can get a Simpson Polo 8 in (regular 3-band) Super for about $20 less than a 2-band one, but I'd be willing to spend the extra $ if I'm getting a functionally superior brush. Thanks.

In general if you want a soft feeling brush with no sritchyness get a three band. If you like a firmer scrubbier feel a two band. At least that is my experience having had more than a couple of dozen to compare.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It used to be that in the Simpson Line super were all two band models. I'm not sure what a three band super is.

I hate to be a label snob but.... is it really a Simpson anymore anyway ? It is made at the Vulfix factory with their workmen. Not that they don't do a good job, from what I've read in reviews on the new output people are happy with them but to me it ain't really a Simpson anymore. Like buying a Jaguar made by Ford.

The 2 band has a bigger diameter bristle. This gives it a firm feel and allows for more flow through.
Super brushes have a similar firmness to them but have less flow through. These puppies are not shy of eating lather.
Both of the above have super soft tips.
By all accounts the Vulfix Simpsons are better than the Simpsons Simpsons. More stringent QA/QC perhaps.
