Thanked: 3Brush Sterilization
I just bought an antique badger shave brush and am wondering if I should sterilize it before I use it and if so, how should I go about it. I was thinking about using a very weak solution of bleach and hot water. Thanks.

A lot of guys use borax. I wouldn't use bleach. Here is a video from em's place with instructions on brush cleaning.

Don't use bleach, you'll wreck the brush hair. Sterilize or Sanitize? ask yourself which one do you really need. I suggest Jimmy's advice, Borax or dish soap soak in hot water.

Brush Sterlization
Gentlemen:
I use dish washing soap and hot water, that's all. I let the brush soak for a while and then wash it thoroughly by hand, reaching into the hairs gently with the fingers and giving it a scrubbing. It seems to work. Soap and water often work wonders.

I would give it a good wash with some anti bacterial hand soap. That should do the trick.
