Thread: Odin's edge shaving goods

I ordered a brush, soap, and a bowl from James at Odin's edge (Site Disclaimer - Odins Edge Custom Shaving) a month ago. Someone asked about custom shaving bowls a while back and I mentioned I had ordered a brush and bowl from this guy. I have used the brush, bowl, and soap a dozen times now and I thought I'd give them a review. The soap is marvelous: thick lather, slick feel, and good cushion. The scent is simple and clean but utterly intoxicating (Rum spice and patchouli, he has several others as well). I will be purchasing more of this soap in the future. Now, on to the brush; this is a wonderful piece. The handle, turned from ambrosia maple, is well-balanced and easy to hold. The grain is beautiful, and the knot the densest I have ever seen or used. He said that his wife makes the knots, and I congratulate her. The hair, his premium silvertip, is at once soft and yet still springy and scrubby enough to work well with soaps. I got the 26mm knot. The bowl is turned from Royal Mahogany and is coated on the outside with Japanese urushi. I could not be more pleased. James was a pleasure to deal with and gave me a lot of room to specify exactly what I wanted.
