Default And Now For Something Completely Different

Silver tipped badger, stainless steel, spalted apple with a 5 bight X 3 ply turkshead tied in cotton.

I almost forgot, it is also magnetical! I realize this may not be for everyone but then again, my designs never are.

    Thanks for looking,
    Brad

Very cool Brad. When I was an ironworker's apprentice 40 years ago I learned a lot of knots, the turkshead among them. I bought The Ashley Book of Knots and practiced many of the decorative knots. Your beautiful brush brought back memories of my younger days.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Very cool brush, Brad. You make some great things.

Is magnetical a word you invented?

Thanks Ben! Magnetical is an abbreviated variation of magneticalistaliscious which can be quite cumbersome after lounging around all day.

Thanks Jimmy! Ashley's Book Of Knots was the first book I ever borrowed from the public library. I must have been six or seven years old. I own my own copy now along with the Encyclopedia of Knots and Fancy Ropework (as well as several lesser knot books).

Brad, how do you do it, your mind must be "on" 24/7!

That brush looks unique. Very beautiful.
What did you use to cover the knot?

Man it came out....Almost like you thought about it! the heft is good i like it alot and even more so in person the pic isn't doing the hard work justice! i was in westport with the wife yesterday and stopped at a few of the "classy" stores...one such place was selling silver badger brushes for 130 usd......i almost laughed and said to myself there is no thought about the design...it's all to easy and simple and bland to look at! and then i see the one's that you have made...far superior in everyway!

Thanks Sailor! I coated the knot with System Three epoxy:
But I learned a long time ago, coating stuff with epoxy isn't that easy because when you mix it, you also whip air into the stuff which will form bubbles as the epoxy cures. I designed this simple setup to pump the air out:

Then there is one more problem, the epoxy is affected by gravity. Iff you let the stuff have its way, it will run down as low as it can get before it cures. I found a simple way to outsmart the epoxy:

I just set the drill to rotate at about 20 RPM and put the epoxy on slow and easy like. It is much better to keep evil cats away while it spins, even if they seem disinterested:

It is a safe bet that as soon as you decide to leave the room, the wretched cat will decide to knock your fresh epoxy coated item to the remarkably hairy floor.
