    Default A "Brush" with Indecision

    Yes, my puns are brilliant.

So, Here we have one of those wonderful scenarios, where I need to make a choice between item A and item B, but neither is the lesser.

My girlfriend and I have been going out for 11 months now, and soon is our one year anniversary. We are both lacking funding (College students, you know how it goes) but decided to get eachother gifts that are at the tips of our means (She being a freshman, and me being a sophomore, those are pretty slim means, indeed!) Now, I have heard good things about QUALITY boar brushes (my only brush [haha, again!] with boar was my starter set, the Walmart special Van Der Hagan) She has agreed to procure a fair quality Boar brush for me for this upcoming anniversary!

So, on to my conundrum! I've done my research, and found two brushes that (In my meager experience) look good to me.

    The combatants:

The Omega Boar Brush #20106 (Omega #20106 - Beautiful PROFESSIONAL Model - Another Big Bruiser)

    or

The Semogue 2000 Boar Brush (Semogue 2000 Natural Boar Bristle Shaving Brush)

I want to either get an Omega or a Semogue... Both have been highly lauded...

Also up for consideration are the Omega #11126 (Omega #11126 - Gorgeous OVANGKOL Wood - Deluxe Banded Boar Brush)

Omega #11137 (Omega #11137 - Classy ASHWOOD Handle)

These are just the 4 I'm considering... She is willing to get me one, maybe two (I have a Brush AD, I just love the varied feels) So, if you have experience with any of these, what are your opinions on them?

    Thanks, Guys
    Cheers,
    Jeremy

Badger hair anyone? The Tweezerman from Amazon will only set you back ~ $13 it's way better than my old boars that cost twice as much or more.

Oh, no, I have a few Badgers (One or two are also quite nice) I wanted to try out a top notch Boar, since I am partial to soaps, and these seem excellent for loading, and wouldn't set me -or her- back too far...

I just wanted opinions on boar because, opposed to badger, I have no experience with them

Another boar lover! Congratulations on your upcoming one year anniversary mate!

The closest I have to #11137 you're interested in is #81054. It's one of my newly acquired brushes. I know this one is banded but specs-wise is nearly similar at 55 loft 56 base and 24 knot. Only difference 81054 is sketched-bleached white and dyed with stripe.
It still needs to be broken in but in spite of this, it produced a great lather. I'll have to get pics next SOTD.

Thanks for the contribution, but... Ah, I have yet to try boar, I want to though! So, what is your opinion on the few I linked? Which would serve me best?

    Thanks!

Of those I would choose the #11137 as it's mid-size brush at least for me. The #20106 won't work for me-I have Boreal #977 and it's nearly same specs. Larger than what I'm accustomed to.

This would come down to what you're comfortable using as far as base type and loft size. Aesthetic-wise is secondary. #11126 would be my second choice given your selection. The gold ringlet is nice touch. It exudes class to boot. I like wooden handles as I've few custom myself.

Even though I don't fancy #20106 much, rest assured ABS plastic handle will serve you long time. I've one in ABS but different style and brand. Best of luck

The Ashwood has grown on me... I think I'll go for the 11137, and if boar suits me (I think it will) I'll pick up a Semogue 2000 Boar, and 2050 HD Semogue silvertip... I still like badger for creams

Oooh... The Bomb... Wanted to get some of that, but I just haven't tried enough of the "other stuff" yet... Still need to try TGQ, Olivia's stuff, Castle Forbes, and some Truefitt and Hill....

It's on my todo list :P
