I own a 1305 and a 2000. The 2000 wasn't that bad (only a slight dead animal smell). The 1305 however was ghastly. Out of the box it smelled like the rectum of a dead rotting oppossum. Now worries though I applied shampoo and conditioner and it made the stink turn down to where the brush was usable. After a week or so howver, it just smelled like whatever I used it with last.
