which is better?
I don't know if this has been asked before but I'm going to throw some mugs and fire them and use them for shaving mugs. What does everyone find to be better, a mug that the cup soap fits tightly enough in the bottom not to move (when new) or something that just allows it to reach the bottom of the mug and sit evenly on the bottom? To this point I've been using old mugs I have. I'm curious what I should shoot for.

FUD,
I like them to be somewhat smooth, but I think you may have to allow for manufacturer inconsistencies. A soap that is a perfect fit now, the next cake may not be exactly the same size. I've melted most of my softer soaps, and I like the way they fit in the mugs. I would say just a bit of play. My "domed" soaps I put in with the flat side down. With just a few drops of water, it melds to the mug and stays put.

If the botom of the mug isn't rounded, a bit of sliding back and forth movement isn't a problem. If it's one of those big latte mugs, I hate chasing the cake around the sides with my brush. Like the old "cage of death" with the motorcycle guys riding around the vertical walls, that's what it reminds me of.
