    Default The Fox

I'm a big sucker for the older stuff so when I spotted this ole girl I just had to take her home and get her purdyed up. I couldn't tell you who the maker is but "The Fox" is stamped into her side.

How I found her on ebay:

and now before her first bath:

Nice resurrection. Did you stain it ? What's the finish ?

Actually I just started buffing the aluminum on the wheel and decided to continue buffing the handle. Once I got it to a soft sheen and brought out what was left of the original finish I really couldn't bring myself to doing anything else but giving her a few coats of renaissance wax.

    Hello, TheRedlines:

You have really sweetened that brush. And nothing but a little buffing, eh? Well done, sir. You are an artist.

    Regards,
    Obie

Thanks a lot Obie. I am more than excited about the way she turned out. It was cool to see the color transform. As the wheel would pass over the brush, certain areas would really darken up compared to others. It was as if she was coming back to life. I wish I could take credit for her awesome finish but this was all the Man Upstairs. Pretty cool to watch Him work

Thanks bro. I am really digging it for the shape as well. She has a comfort in the hand like no other. The skinny part just lays in the hollows of your fingers perfectly as the fatter part sits perfectly in your palm allowing awesome control. I wonder why this thing didn't take off as compared to the fatter handles of latter times.

One thing I somehow forgot to mention: She's also been outfitted with an 18mm finest knot from TGN.

Great job! That turned in to a very attractive brush- I bet it'll be a lot of fun every time you use it.

    Thanks BKRatchmer!
Ok so a not so happy update. I went into the bathroom and happened to notice that since I last washed it it started to dry and bleach out again. Darn! This means I have to actually use a finish and anyone who has read my posts knows I hate finishing. So I wiped her down real good with denatured alcohol and then gave her the first coat of wipe on poly. The first coat brought the color right back so hopefully I'm on the right track.

Unfortunately timber does need waterproofing. Sounds like you've solved the problem.
