Vie-Long Shaving Brushes
I just received a Vie-Long 16510 White Badger shaving brush. She's a real beauty, but I wonder how they are as shaving brushes. Does anybody have any experience using these brushes to create lather and applying lather to one's face?
Any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

I have a VieLong, it's a silvertip, two band and olivewood Handle,...it's small, but great in perfomance,......the hairs are abit thicker than the chinese badger (Vie Long uses european badger) and they provide more backbone, for me it's a great brush for soaps, in bowl or face lathering. I am very satisfied with this little brush :
Compared with a T&H superbadger and a Edwin Jagger XL Best badger
The brush in a SOTD
The brush at work in the scuttle
I prefer smaller sizes than bigger brushes, 20-22 mm knot, and the bulb shape over the fan shape.Last edited by du212; 04-19-2010 at 11:59 AM.

Vie-Long Shaving Brushes
Hello, du212:
Thanks for offering your thoughts on the Vie-Long brush. I have been curious about them.
By the way, I prefer the 22 mm. knot as well, and most of my brushes are 22s. I also have the same model Edwin Jagger in your photo. It's a good brush, but the bloody thing is so big that my face swims in it.
Regards,
Obie

I know this is an old thread but I used my Vie - Long 16510 today and was looking for reviews of this brush. Many don't like floppy brushes and this is the floppiest I have ever used. Despite that, it truly is a luxurious beast. It lathers perfectly and is best done in a bowl and painted gently on to your face. It can be swirled around on your face without too much of a problem with a little practice. My brush has a knot of 23mm with a 60mm loft - higher than the spec.
Here it is after use today:
