art of shaving sampler brush..
so i walked into the art of shaving store in glendale today and i was immediately filled with joy when the most incredibly smelling blonde walked up to help me... having not shaven in about two weeks.. she asked "how long has it been since you've shaved? you look like you could put us out of business."
after a short daydream about our children attending and then graduating brown with honours.. i explained to her how i have recently gotten into more serious shaving habits and i was still using my van der hagen boar bristle... but looking to upgrade..
she looked me dead in the eye and told me that she had just what i needed to help me explore my options... a packet filled with a sample of their unscented line and the cutest little brush i have ever seen.. seriously.. the handle on this thing is about the size of a vienna sausage.. the brush itself stands rather tall and is nearly the size of my body shop synthetic brush..
maryjane says that it's a mixture of both synthetic and pure badger.. she handed me her card and told me to call her back after i had shaved.
i havn't used the brush yet.. anyone else know anything about it?

What a great post! I'm thinking all about this sweet smelling blonde, how she must have been talking kinda soft like Marilyn Monroe when you asked whether I knew anything about that brush.
Talking about being yanked back down to earth! This world, including even straight razors and brushes, is a dark place next to the beautiful women of this world.
(And, wife, you if read this post... yes, I am talking about you.)

well.. i know without a doubt that this lovely lady was simply spilling me a line. seeing as how my 2 week old beard looks as if i'm 12 and trying to look older.. i simply could not overcome the nostalgia i felt as she spoke to me.. it was very reminiscent of the scene in 'scent of a woman' where young charlie met the darling yet taken girl who reeked of 'soap and water'...
however.. the true reason for my post was to find out about the badger slash synthetic hybrid brush.. does anyone know anything of it? i am quite schooled in many aspects of this world.. grammer and proper shaving not being one of them..

Thanked: 14It is a nice little brush; like you, I received mine when I bought that same sampler pack a little over a year ago. It is certainly better than your VDH, at least in my opinion. It is not in my normal rotation anymore, as it is too small for everyday use, but I do use it when traveling. It seems perfect for that.
The AOS's around me all have guys too, and not always that polite either.

Thanked: 14I misunderstood; I thought you had bought the starter kit already. No, I do not think it can be purchased separately; I suspect it is meant only to introduce their product line. I would not buy it either (if that is even a possibility), but it does fit nicely in my travel bag.
If you did not yet buy it, at least it gives you an excuse to go and see Maryjane again!
