Default TURNBACK vs. TUBE: TRAVEL BRUSH SHOWDOWN

    Any preferences?

Has anyone tried both and wound up liking one or the other?

Do they wind up smelling like mildew?

Sorry if you thought I was going to "draw" first, I haven't owned one.

    GO!

I just throw my cheap tweezerman brush in my kit. Let it dry on counter, throw it back in bag when i head home, then take it out when i get home.

    No problems so far.

I only have one brush and I wrap it in tissue when I travel. After the shave I shake the brsuh dry and then foof it on a towel and just stand it on the handle if I dont have anything to hook it on to.

Actually, one trip I did make a stand out of a coat hanger..! Hows that for OCD?

I have both a tubed Vulfix travel brush in pure badger and a vintage chrome turnback, re-knotted with a silvertip knot.

My preference is for the turnback as it has a longer handle which reaches the bottom of my shave mug a lot better when used at home. The silvertip is much denser and softer when used for face lathering although I appreciate that this is not specific to the brush style.

A good shake out and a bit of a fluffing on a towel (as Stubear suggests) is all I do for both when travelling which results in no ill effects. You would have to put your brush away pretty wet and leave it a good long while before anything untoward would happen to it, but I'm sure like most, you open it out and allow it to dry properly when you get home.

Also even if your brush never gets truly dry as it is in use every day and is also packed to allow travel every day, the brush is constantly being rinsed and refreshed, and so will not get funky in the slightest.

    Happy travels,

    Jim
