Badger brush care? Vufix?
I have been using a Pinaud natural bristol brush for years, long before I started using straights. But the old pinaud brush has lost many bristols over the years and is just not performing like it used to. Its time for a new brush. Im very interested in the Vulfix line of brushes. They seem like a fair price for a badger shaving brush and they have been around for years. I have never used a badger brush before does anyone have any comments on the Vulfix badger shaving brush? Also do these brushes need any special care, is a brush stand necessary? With my Pinaud brush, I just rinsed it well after using it, shook all the excess water from it and stood it up to dry and it has lasted a decade. Would that be sufficant care for the badger brush?
Thanks, Tony B.

I store mine in a holder brush down after flicking it dry, but other guys here just give them a rinse, foof them on a towel and store them resting on the handle as you do.
If you want to ensure it stays in good condition, then I'd say err on the side of caution and get one of those little plastic brush holders and store it brush down.
It might well be fine storing it like your old brush, but then again it might not be. So in the interests of preserving your new brush for as long as possible, I'd say get a holder.
For the sake of a couple of bucks for the holder, you may as well get one if it protects a $100 brush, is just my way of thinking.

Thanked: 1936I use my super-badger vulfix (yes, the prices are right) daily & hang bristle down to dry after flicking it like Stubear mentions. They are great brushes and should give you many years of use as long as you take care of it by drying it and getting a stand to let it dry.

Thanked: 190I also have a super badger brush by Vulfix and it is a well balanced performing brush. Works well for creams and soaps and like the others who have written, take care of it and it will last a long time.

+1 on the previous posts.
Personally, I think that any brush will last longer if you store it in a stand--hanging brush side down. And considering that a functional brushstand doesn't cost all that much, compared to a good quality brush, its a real bargain imho."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain
