Default Recommendation for Father's Day gift?

As the title indicates, I'm looking to get a brush for my dad as a father's day gift. I just joined this community a few weeks ago and everything I know about straight razors and accessories is what I've read here so far (which is to say, I know next to nothing). My dad doesn't shave with a straight razor, but he has used a shaving brush at least since I was born. I'm pretty sure the one he uses is the $7.99 brush available at most drug stores, and he uses them until there's basically just a ring of hairs left. He also has a pretty cool looking pewter mug that basically looks like a smallish old-fashion drinking stein, so preferably I would like to get him something that sort of compliments that. I only make $9/hr right now, so my budget is around $50. Any help is appreciated.

I'd say an Edwin Jagger best badger brush in small. They're shipping free from The English Shaving Shop for their Father's day promo, but that would not get her in time.

You may also consider a soap sampler: Mitchells wool fat, trumpers, tabac...

I may be mistaken, but I believe that the Thäter best badger brush is under $50 US. I paid $30-ish for mine from a member, used one or twice. It's quickly become my favorite. Although, as RayG said, it probably won't make it in time for fadders day. +1 on the soap sampler - great idea, shooter!

Best of luck to you. Let us know what you end up with.

    Cheers,

    Larry

Pretty much any pure badger or smaller best badger would fill the bill. Check the usual vendors on the site.

Vulfix pure badger brush and triple milled soap puck to put in the mug. All this under $50 and if ordered today, you may get it in time. If you can swing it, the super badger brush. Maybe the vendor may work with you on this one.
