    Default KimSon Custom Sized Brushes

Finally I received my KimSom brushes. It takes quite a while to ship them from Vietnam to the US. I suspect they were held at the US customs for a while.

Those babies are not in the catalog (in this size). I asked Mr. Vu Kim Son if he could make me two of his catalog models in knot size 28mm, and he agreed. He's a pleasure to deal with! Last week they arrived and I had a chance to test them both for a few days. I am really impressed! These are lather machines! I'll need a larger bowl to create lather in, since it's not easy to retain the lather in my current one. The touch to my face while applying the lather is as soft as can be! Pure luxury!

The handles are buffalo horn, one black, one multi colored. The knots are Chinese badger of the highest quality. The craftsmanship is first class! Comparing those brushes with my other 28mm and 29mm knot sized brushes, I found the new ones to be even larger in knot size. So I measured, and sure enough, they both are 30mm! What a bargain!

Folks, if you're looking for a high quality brush at a very, very reasonable price, this is the way to go. Highly recommended! Their website is www.kimson.vn.

Disclaimer: I'm not in any way affiliated with this company, just a very happy customer.

Very attractive brushes-- I bet that the horn feels great in the hand!

I like their products but I'm always kinda leery about ordering from oversees. To bad they don't have a US distributor.

They look great! Really your two look better then the examples they give on the site. Now of course I'm thinking about getting somethings from the site, how would you compare the badger hair to some well know brands, ie I have a thater wondering how it rates against it in backbone and softness? Also what were shipping prices like?

I have been looking for a new reasonably priced brush and I have most likely found it! Thanks for the link.

This was my second order from Kimson. Both went smooth, although one needs quite a bit of patience, especially if ordering something they don't have in their catalog. And even if ordering from the catalog that doesn't mean they have it in stock. They'll have to make it first. Count on several weeks for the manufacturing and another 4-8 weeks for the shipping, depending on how slow the US custom works, which is certainly not Kimson's fault. ;-) Shipping is $8 and some change. Very reasonable, I think. Unfortunately I cannot compare those brushes to well known brands. While I don't mind spending money for quality, I refuse to spend money on a label. None of my brushes has any brand name label, but each one of them is excellent with its own special properties/characters. My Kimson brushes are at least of the same quality as the ones Dan Capshaw made for me a while ago. I hope this gives you an idea.

I have had one for about three years and the horn is still bright and polished and is a fantastic material. I put a knot in the handle I ordered and it is my favorite brush.

    Default Update

Someone asked me to do a follow up after a while. Now, about 5 months later after almost daily use of this brush, it still looks and performs the same:

This photo was taken today about 20 min after shaving. BTW, those two horn combs are also made by Kimson. Unfortunately I no longer have enough hair to enjoy them, but my wife says they are just wonderful.
