    Default Just Whipped This Up

So my 11 year old daughter, Matisse, has been playing around with an old pocket knife I gave her and whittled this piece of maple tree branch. It has M + D on it, like you would have carved in a tree years ago.

I was thinking about how to honor such a gift. So, naturally I had to tie it in with something I could use every day.

I had a 24mm Super Badger knot from GN laying around, and decided it would make a great brush handle.

All I have to do is put finish on it now.

My daughter was just elated that I took the gift so personally and thinks its new purpose is great.

Looks like it was destined to be a handle. Great backstory, I'm sure 20 years from now when she is all grown up it will be far and away your favorite brush because of it's special meaning, that is if it isn't already!

That right there is the best brush anyone could ever own! I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to produce such important and lasting objects. Thanks for sharing.

    Default Cool

    David,

What a great idea! Time to start looking around the house for "treasures" that my kids have given me that I can convert to a brush handle. Hmm, I don't think that miniature King Tut sarcophagus made from clay will work, what else could I use....
