Thanked: 4I've looked at the Moss scuttle, but decided to stick with my current set up. I use a 2c Pyrex measuring cup that I put 1 1/2 cups of water in and set the microwave to have it piping hot when I'm ready to shave after exiting the shower. This provides hot water to preheat my garage sale latte cup while the SMF1 brush soaks in the Pyrex. Then the brush is removed, all the hot water is put back into the Pyrex, and the latte cup is perched securely on top of the measuring cup. I lather in the latte cup which stays quite warm over the hot water. The bonus is that I still use the measuring cup for it's intended purpose as well.

I take a different approach in that I couldn't care less if the lather gets cold while I'm shaving. Look at it this way, once its on your face it gets cool rapidly anyway. Trying to keep it hot is like a dog chasing its tail.

Hey, Kyle (a very fine name, BTW). I've got to go with thebigspendur and LX_Emergency on this one. Provided that you've not used cold water to make the lather, there is not a noticeable change in performance. While I've not used the Moss Scuttle, I've tried many other tricks for retaining lather heat. At best, I believe it can add to the luxury of the moment, but does not really effect the quality.
Having said all of this, every man's shave is a very unique and individual experience and if heated lather does it for you, then by all means heat it up, my good man.
One word of warning about the mug warmers; I have seen reports where the device heated the mug to a degree that the tips of the brush (badger) were slightly damaged.
