Thanked: 3First Brush Restore
Hey guys, thought I would show off my first brush restore. It's not completely obvious anything was done here because the brush was in such good shape when I found it, but I did replace the knot with a Super Silvertip Badger knot from the Golden Nib.
Enjoy the pictures! The first is the "before", the second is the "after."
Also, if anyone could tell me anything about this brush (age, manufacturer, etc.). It is stamped "Made in Germany" on the bottom.

Thanked: 3It's a 22 mm x 65 mm loft Super Badger Bulb from the Golden Nib.
22 Super Badge BULB [22-SB-BULB] - $25.95 : Fountain Pen parts - NIBS, - Wholesale Fountain Pen Ink - Golden Nib AZ
It's so unbeleivably soft on my face, I never really understood why people would pay $100+ for a shave brush, now I do. (Even though this cost me about $50 total to complete)

Your right. I wondered also. I made one with a GN Silver tip A WOW! Awesome. I also have a vestavia, A better brush really makes a difference when your lathering. I noticed a huge difference when i went from my Vintage brush to my TAOS best badger, Then a night and day difference to my Vestavia. I dont think i could ever jump to one of those brushes that cost over $200 and up though.

Thanked: 58Just thought I'd bump an ancient thread to get a question answered. It seems to me that the brush I want to restore is going to be in the 17mm range, yet so far all I've found at thegoldennib is 18mm. Are these sized precisely, or are the actual knots made a little smaller to fit the desired measured handle hole/cavity/thingy?
