Thanked: 270My go-to scuttle
Around September Robert Becker came up with this scuttle with a large area to soak the brush before lathering and dip into water to refresh the lather.
That brush area has proven to be so useful that I have been using this one about 80 percent of the time.
The scuttle cost less than $30.
One thing that makes this design so valuable is that my tap water doesn't get hot enough so I can't empty the scuttle and re-fill it. (I live in a semi-tropical climate and don't need an ample supply of hot water.) I have an electric kettle in the bathroom and heat the water there.
I thought I would post pictures in case some of you have a similar need.

Hmm, interesting design. I think I would prefer it if the neck of the scuttle was wider.

It looks like a Schwarzweisskeramik scuttle. I do like the speckled color.

Thanked: 1160interesting
So when you fill the brush pot, does water also surround the scuttles bowl(does the bowl have a hollow wall),or is this more like a lather bowl with just a brush soak cup attached ??

I think that would be perfect for my needs, I also have the question about the tap water, does it surround the scuttle? As i am currently stationed in Louisiana as well, i know the climate situation that you mention...its definitely something. I'd like to know more about it. Very interesting.

Thanked: 270The lathering area is surrounded by water and the brush area is the run-off. It holds 3-4 cups of water.

He doesn't have one like mine in stock but he may make one for you. E-mail him and attach the pictures I posted (they were taken by Robert Becker). I hope it's OK to give out his e-mail address: [email protected]
It will probably cost around $30 + shipping.

Thanked: 270I forgot to mention something that's a real help with any scuttle. I use one of those rubber pads you put on your car dashboard to hold cell phones underneath and it enables me to mix the lather with one hand.
