A new brush?
Hi,
It's my birthday coming up in a few months and I was thinking about asking one of my various relatives for a new shaving brush. However, as I've been using a cyril r salter so far (and haven't yet had enough money to replace it with something of a little more quality), I don't really know anything about brushes of repute. I've gathered a little information from the reviews and other threads but I'm wondering generally about brands that you know are reliable, and not too expensive, perhaps ~£30?
Also I have been wondering about synthetic brushes, anyone got any ideas along that line?
Anyway cheers for your time as usual,
Sheebay

Check out the New Forest brushes. I do not have a link to his site, but do a google search and it should come up. They are in your price range and my New Forest is probably my favorite. Also, any boar brush will fall into your price range.
....on a side note, I used the Salters cream for the first time today and absolutely loved it. I'm not sure something "of more quality" will do anything better than Salters. I am typically a soap guy, but it was one of the best lathers I have ever gotten.

it depends what qualities you like and then it depends on the size brush you prefer and if you buy from one of the established brands, one of the custom guys or one of the bargain sellers. It's kind of complicated. Personally, being a badger guy I would say get a Best badger from one of the outfits like Vulfix or Rooney. Those should be in your price range.
I'm sure others will come along with other suggestions. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanks, I'll see about those.
I'm not too fussed over how harsh the brush is on my face, but obviously soft is nice, I'd like something small - medium sized. I was thinking one of the brands more than an independent (for the moment anyway, after I've gotten a staple few I'm sure I'll delve into the lesser knowns) make. Thanks for the advice
