Default is there a huge difference between a van der hagen and a semogue?

i've really been wanting to purchase a nice boar brush.. and for some reason.. i really can't decide on which one..

my first brush was a van der hagen which i used for nearly 10 years.. i'm wondering just how much more i can expect out of say a semogue or an omega?

    Cool

I used a boars brush for years that I purchased from a garage sale.... along with the DE. Now I use a silvertip that I built from golden nib with a fax ivory handle. Makes great lather. I think the brush matures along with the user.....

A boars brush is not better or worse than a sivertip badger, but a local beer is not better or worse than a fine wine. Each has its place in the world, each has its flavor, its taste according to ones needs.

The point is to Enjoy, and savior the moment!

I can't say if it is better or worse, but I can say that a new boars brush of any manufacturer will take quite a bit of time to equal a boar brush that has 10 years of use on it. I have a Semogue 830 that I've had for a few months and I really like, but it still doesn't feel broken in yet (compared to other 830s that have much more use than mine, I don't use mine daily though). The more use, the more the ends of the hair split and soften, thus improving the feel and performance IMHO.

    Cheers!
