    Default Bargain Brush???

    Hi everyone,

Today while checking out the local antiques market I stumbled upon a stall with three shaving brushes for sale. I selected the best of the three and bought it for £10 (around $16). Seams like a bargain since I don't think the brush has ever been used and it doesn't loose many hears when rubbed. I wonder if you can help me with any information about this brush and how to sterilize it just in case.

    Thanks.

That looks almost new, and my untrained eye says you got a steal... but ya gotta use it and like it before that happens.

fine brush, think you've had a bargain.
Shampooing several times will still be enough
    ............... I think.
And then good use..... have fun

Wow, what a brush! Haven't shaved yet but feels very soft. Done a couple of lathers just to clean it a bit (was quite dusty) and the bloom is huge. Generally I use soup and prefer a smaller brush with more back bone but who's gonna argue for a tenner. It has lost a few hairs, around 15, I wonder if this might indicate it hasn't been used before or something more sinister?

    Check out this bloom...

Do you think this is sliver-tip badger? I've looked at threads about this subject but they seam inconclusive as to what 'super' means. Any ideas?

Yea that looks brand new to me judging by how much the bloom grew.

    "Silvertip
Super Silvertip - Top of the line, soft creamy white natural tips well packed.
Silvertip Grade A- Soft creamy white natural tips, well packed.
Silvertip- Standard grade, not as soft as the above knots, greyish silver tips very well packed, good backbone, great value.
    Super Badger
Super badger is treated silvertip. This makes the tips whiter and softer. Very high quality knot, soft tips well packed available in Bulb or Fan shapes.
    Best Badger
Flexible and soft bristles with a bit of stiffness; great for massaging and exfoliation. Blend of dark and light badger hair to create a gray look.
    Finest Badger
Creamy white tips that fade to black, sometimes refered to as two band. Fairly soft tips well packed good with soaps and creams. Available in fan & bulb shapes
Pure Badger Coarse dark hair with firm bristles, good for scrubbing and exfoliating, Value knot.
Boar Coarse hair with firm bristles.
Nylon Synthetic hair extremely soft tips with the look of badger.

T&H doesn't make brushes so my guess is it's made by Vulfix since they are the largest maker and make many brushes for other outfits selling brushes. Looks like a silvertip to me. I'd say you made out pretty good.
