Default Tweezerman Brush Reveiw and Logo Removal Tip!

    Hey Guys,

I recently bought a Tweezerman Badger brush and I used it for the first time today! I really liked it, and appreciated the extra firmness it has compared to my VDH Badger brush. It made quick work of my usual Williams soap/Proraso cream combo, and whipped up a fantastic lather in no time! It was much quicker than my VDH, but don’t take that as a dig on the VDH, because I really like it as well! It will be a while before I’ll be comparing either of these brushes against a Simpsons, Plisson, or a Kent, but so far for what I’ve spent, I think both of these are great! (Oh who am I kidding? I’ll most likely have at least 1 brush from all 3 of those manufacturers in another month! And I’ve already started looking for vintage brushes to restore as well! This stuff is FUN!)

Now, back to my intended post – if any of you are like me, the Tweezerman logo on your brush isn’t the first thing you want to see in the morning! While I understand the company wanting their brand name prominently displayed, “Tweezerman” just doesn’t have the cache that the Simpsons, Semogue, or other company logos have IMO. That being the case, I got after it with some of SWMBO’s fingernail polish remover and voila, the logo is gone!

One note of caution if you decide to do this “mod” yourself – it only takes a few quick wipes to remove the logo and then the acetone goes to work on the protective varnish coating on the handle! So make sure you use no more acetone than is absolutely necessary! I could feel the varnish getting sticky by using a light finger touch, but after the acetone flashed-off there was no damage and all is well. Good luck!

Just wanted to say thanks for the tip. I tried it the other night and it worked great. No more having to remember to turn my brush so the name doesn't show in SOTD photos!

I am looking for a way to put a BOLD logo
on my $7 VDH boar brush. It looks necked
alongside my other brushes. They are all
good... and at this point my VDH is well used
and has earned its place alongside my
richer high cache name brand brushes.

It might be cost prohibitive, but call a local trophy shop and ask if they can engrave something on the handle for you. If so, after it's complete you could wipe some paint (contrasting color), over the logo/engraving, to fill it in, then wipe away the excess. If someone can accommodate your request, it should turn-out pretty cool!

Keep us in the loop on whatever you do, and I appreciate your fondness for your "lesser" brush! My 1st was a VDH boar as well and I don't plan on tossing it out just because a few upper-end brush may sit along side of it one day...

You should never be ashamed of what you have and use, as long as you are learning how or know how to use it.

    Hey Shooter,

I don't think any of us are ashamed of the Tweezerman brush; I certainly am not and I really like the brush! It's just that I personally don't care for the Tweezerman logo. But then again, no one from Tweezerman contacted me for my .02 when they came up with the design...

    Talking A "Tweezer" Man

What?! You don't like the Tweezerman logo? In this manly man's shaving tool, what better way to advertise your manliness than with a Tweezerman brush!? Yeah, I'm a "tweezer man". Whoops... I've got to go to the bathroom... now where did I put those tweezers? (And magnifying glass.)
