Thread: soap storage

I've always been a cream guy, but lately I've been getting into soaps and liking it. Here's my dumb question: how do you store your soaps once you start using them? Do you let them dry for a day then take it out of the mug? If so what do you store it in? I'm thinking a ziploc bag. Or do you store them wet in a sealed container? I'd leave the soap in the mug, but at the rate I'm going, I won't have enough mugs or the space to hold them all . Would appreciate suggestions. Thanks.

I just store them in empty hand-creme containers with lids open. I'd only close'em if I were planning on travelling with'em. Otherwise I use'em so often it doesn't really matter.

ZipLoc makes a Snap N Seal container that is just about a perfect size for soaps. They come in groups of 6 and run between $3-4 bucks. If you don't need 6, you have food storage. I put fresh soaps into them, glue the label of the soap to the lid, and I'm set. You can pick these up at most markets and Wal Mart.

For storage, once I use a soap, I leave the lid off until the end of the work day and then re-seal and store.

Mugs were made for a reason and thats to store the soap in. All my containers be them mugs or dishes or what not have covers on them. I have about 4 soaps that I alternate with so once I finish shaving I just cover them up until the next time. Its as simple as that.

Having a bunch of pretty mugs or dishes is part of the experience.

I've been storing large soaps in the ziploc XS container. I use them right in the container. I have a little stack of them. After I shave, I rinse the soap off, and put the top on top, but I don't snap it shut so it has no problem drying off. If I haven't been using the soap in a while, I just snap the lid shut.

Effective and inexpensive, and it let's me rotate through a bunch of soaps with no storage problem.

When you think of it, when straight razor shaving was the only way to shave, a man probably only had only one cake of soap that he kept in his one mug. When it was used up he would buy another. I don't think he had quite the choice we have.

I know, I've picked up 4 soaps, 4 aftershaves, and 4 razors in just the past month....this is pathetic already. Even though I succeeded in conquering our one bathroom shelf (kicked my wife's stuff completely off it - very pleased with myself), I'm already running out of room. Now if I could just get her clothes out of my closet....

Getting the clothes out will be tougher . I have succeeded in taking over two full shelves in the bathroom and I am very proud of myself.

i got about 12inches of counter space on a 5 foot counter. i get no shelves or cabinet space yet. she threw a hissy when i tried to move this ugly as hell flower holder thing that was sitting on the counter.

now that i think about it, im gonna go throw that away right now and regulate this bathroom thing. no reason becuase she always had all the space that it should continue that way.

shit, while im at it and feeling tough, im gonna buy me another shave soap for good measure!
