Thanked: 12This is good info. I usually drill it out with a 1/4" then go to 1/2". And from there I use a dremel with a sanding drum on it to grind the rest of the knot out. It's pretty simple. Then I'll fill most of the hollow handles with bakelite bases with epoxy to to add a little weight, stabilize them if they are cracked and to protect them against drops. Then it is easy to use washers, part of a wine cork or what ever you choose to make a shelf out of.

A vintage pair of Kent brushes, unused, and came from a former Kent employee. A V16 with a 38mm knot from the 60s or 70s and a real ivory brush specifically identified by Kent as having been made in 1919. Both will remain unused but temptation is strong.
