40mm grenade shaving brush
found two of these lying around my house
(no idea where it came from)
and thought hey this would make a cool shot glass.
then looked over at my shaving brush an thought hmm that would be a pretty sweet shaving brush handle sooo what do you guys think? its opening is a little big at 40mm :P but I figured I could make a insert outta something to make it look like an unfired round with a brush sticking outta it :PLast edited by CFSapper; 11-30-2011 at 02:52 AM. what if you used a medium sized hard rubber ball (grey in color), cut it in half, then shaved it down to a 40mm diameter and shaped the round end to a dome. Then you could drill out the top for whichever size brush you want and epoxy it in. It would be water proof, you wouldn't need to build a shelf since it's solid, and it wouldn't corrode. I'm thinking maybe one of those heavy dog toys.
Also, I would seal up the brass with a coat of epoxy after polishing it so it doesn't tarnish.
*edit - like this, in the description it says the large ball is solid...Last edited by TwistedOak; 11-30-2011 at 01:48 PM.

DIY or get someone to turn you a dummy round on a wood lathe (40mm is about 1.57 inches, rough turn it to 1 5/8 (1.625) and sand down to size, checking with calipers as you go), while it is still on the lathe, get the center bored with a 22MM diameter hole about 3/4" deep. Then spread some expoxy around the inside of the shell and insert the wood dummy round into the shell. After the expoxy dries, spray on a water resistent clearcoat on the shell and wood dummy round, allow to dry then put some epoxy into the 22MM hole and insert the badger knot. There you have it. Do not use pine, too soft and porous.

Use a piece of hardwood shaped like the nose, drill it out to fit he brush. Seems like it would be on the big side to me.

Thx for the suggestions gents they are what I had In mind. I was thinking a yellow plastic bar cut, drilled, and domed so it would look like an HE round.
It would be a little big but it would look pretty nice once its done

If you really wanted to get fancy, you could make it into a travel brush and have the projectile screw into the casing so you could reverse it. Make more use of that 40mm brass space.

Hmmmm now there's an Idea! I must think on that. As I think I know how I could do that. Make it look like a round when packed away and with a twist out comes the brush. I like that idea a lot
