I'm very happy with it.

Me too, my brush arrived today... safe and sound.
So what fine soap will be first...?

I know I will have to rinse the first two
latherings down the drain to make sure any
manufacturing oil and stuff are well
rinsed away as well.

Should I select my soap with a random
lottery? Should I challenge the brush
and myself with Williams?

I am leaning toward MWF but Tabac is
closer to hand. Cella in a bright red
container is not to be ignored. D.R Harris
is due to be moved to the head of the line
where it belongs. Cyril Salter will have
to wait... it is just too easy to lather with
so it will tell me little.

PaulBenn, that is a beautiful brush. I should be receiving a brush similar to yours on Monday. Have you used it at all? How does the handle material feel? How deep is the etching of the brand SRP logos? Does the lather release well? Thanks for providing any details.

On a completely different note, you sure have posted a lot for being here only a year.

Very nice ! I have a bulb on route as well...The fan came early.

yohimnbe2, what is the knot size of that Simpson? They say that Thater knots are often larger than they claim, so if that's true then your Simpson must be huge.....

I used the brush this afternoon with Nancy Boy Signature shave cream. I love the scent of this cream with its peppermint, rosemary, and lavender essential oils, and I wanted to impart some of that to the new bristles, even though it wasn't a great test of the brush hair. The laser etching is about 1-3 microns, almost infintessimal. The handle is very nice, very shiny and elegant to the touch. I'm not a good judge of lather release because to me, and maybe only to me, it is not a characteristic that makes much sense. If I need more lather, I create more in the soap dish or tub of cream to the point of saturation and release it easily on my face. If I feel like I need more, I go get more. If the brush hair retains a bunch, it's okay with me. I wash it away when I'm done. Soaps and creams are relatively inexpensive given how long they last.

I think you will thoroughly enjoy the brush. If for some reason you don't, there's an ample market and high demand for it. Someone will gladly take it off your hands.

Nice review, Paul--thanks! My bulb arrived today, although I won't pick it up from the PO until tomorrow. Look forward to using it!

I used mine this morning. MWF, a little glycerin and a Moss scuttle to park it in between passes. I have the bulb style and was able to work up a great lather mostly with just the water soaked up by the brush. This is going to be a great lathering brush as it breaks in.

I, too, await yohimnbe2's response. However, I have read that Chubby 3's come in 30mm knots, if that helps at all. Apparently, the trick with Thäter brushes is to add 2mm to get the knot diameters at the top of the brush handle. I believe that would make the SRP Thäter brushes around 28mm for a knot diameter.
