    Default Brush handle

Does anyone here make brush handles? I'm looking for one to accommodate a 30mm knot. I turn metal etc but not wood.

IT won't hurt anything to turn wood on your metal lathe. You just need to turn your speed up make sure your tool is nice and sharp. I would hone the cutting faces to get a better finish on the wood. Some species of wood you need to stop a bit oversize and sand down to final dimension to avoid tear out.

WHen I build a fly rod I turn the titanium, the wood and even the cork on the same machine.

IF you don't want to do it yourself my daughter is about to do a couple for me on her wood lathe. I will post pics and if you like what she does with them, I'm sure you can talk her into doing one for you.

I'm not a fisherman Ray, but your work on that rod is enough to make me want to fish. Absolutely stunning.

Very nice scroll work on the rod. It looks like someone close to you does gun engraving. My wife does, but rarely has time to do any. What is the black on the metal work? I've never found anything that looks that good and is durable.

LOL ya somebody real close. I make my living as an engraver. Actually I did all that work. even made the hardware from rodstock CP titanium. I use flat black rustoleum to blacken my backgrounds. It leaves a nice even finish and stays for a LONG time.
