Thanked: 9Badger grades, best brushes
So what is the best - I keep hearing high mountain white Euro Manchurian whatever... And how much do they run?
I'd love to get an ivory handle best possible hair something - but from what I gather they are over GBP 1000! Crap
Anyway, does anyone here have one of these??? If you do, please don't tell me it's worth every penny because I cannot possibly imagine purchasing one
Cheers

Thanked: 9X - I did read it.
Didn't see anything about Euro, white, manchurian, etc. badger. Same goes for GBP 1000+ brushes, and people experiencing them, which were my questions
For the record, I have a Rooney Super (med) which I love. Sure, the handle is faux ivory, but I've had worse... And I really like Matt's brushes. Thinking I might get one myself some time (especially if the Rooney fails)
Cheers

Hm, I've never heard of any of that either. I know most badger hair comes from China is all. Maybe Matt has the goods.

The biggest problem with badger grading is their is no standard. One man's Best may be the next man's Super. Every major brush manufacturer uses different nomenclature to label their brushes. Somewhere at SMF their is a huge thread devoted to this. I'll have to see if I can find it and post a link. You don't have to spend your kid's inheritance to get a great brush. One of my favorites is a $35 best badger from C&E. I'll probably soon be getting another limited edition brush as SMF has announced that SMF III is coming soon. I have about 20 brushes now, and I enjoy them all. Each has it's own special attributes that make it unique.

Well, not to brag but I do have a genuine elephant Ivory handled brush which I got from matt and it didn't cost anywhere near the price you mentioned and its wonderful.

Interior Mammoth Ivory Endcap made by Matt. I am about to have him make two more brushes. One for my brother for Christmas and one more for me from my wife or sister or mother or maybe even my brother. ANYWAY. This brush is a unique piece of art that is a usable tool. I use mine every day and I recommend before you buy any other brush you give Matt’s a try. You will not regret it

Wow...there's debate over the minutia of everything, ain't there? If it makes lather, it'll work.
