    Default What a difference!

I have been shaving with a straight or DE for a little over a year now, getting by just fine with my VdH and tweezerman. In February, my gal got me some D.R. Harris Arlington and Marlborough soaps. The difference in my shaves was noticeable immediately, but I still chugged along with my tweezerman. I have been pressed for time lately with my new job so I have been lucky to get a WTG pass with a DE every few day, and my gal has noticed my scruffy appearance and made note of how she doesn't like it as much. Last few times I have managed to shave she heard me mention I needed a new brush due to the amount of shedding my tweezerman has been doing. It's been a decent brush, it got the job done, but it is time to put it out to pasture. Wednesday on my way in from work I noticed a package in front of my door. I know I didn't order anything but since it was addressed to me I opened it to find this..
100 Silvertip Badger Bristle Shaving Brush Chrome Handle and Free Shaving Brush Stand from Parker Safety Razor
I read the amazon reviews and OK, I will give it a shot (the bad reviews were spot in. the plug came right out of the handle) TO avoid hurting her feelings (she tried to find a "good" one) I pulled out some epoxy and glued the know back into place. I finally had a chance to shave this evening and What a difference. I changed nothing in my routine (next time the brush will spend less time on the soap) and ended up having a mug overflowing with lather. Full three pass shave, which I rarely do more than two. I still have enough lather in the brush and mug to shave a few more times. The brush was much softer than what I am used to, and it put the lather on much more thicker than my tweezerman. It made the whole shave so much better. If I would have known it was that much easier to make and apply lather with a better brush I would have made the purchase much sooner, but getting it as a gift was great. I know the brush isn't top of the line or as nice as they come, but it was a world of difference. My shave today has pushed me to start looking for another brush (just in case )

It is amazing how having the right brush can make all the difference in your shaves. For your next brush, you ought to try a quality boar.

agreed...I like my boar over my badger. The great thing about boar you can try different ones w/o breaking the bank.

I have that same brush. It was my first one and I still love it! It makes enough lather for an army lol.

Enjoy, your girl did a good job.

Just remember that this is a slippery slope, especially with having a new job, the temptation can be quite strong.
You will probably find a world of difference to the next level too, something with finer hairs more density and backbone, like thater or something.

I can tell you that after I sampling the whole range I've settled on rooney's finest and I've been happy ever after
