    Default I was just thinking.

This is really directed to our members who are handy in the mechanics department.

Many of us buy brush after brush and really the main thing is the different handles the brushes come in. It's about the sizes and shapes and materials and colors and textures.

So what if someone came up with some sort of hair knot that was fitted in some sort of universal screw or bayonet type fixture where you could easily take just one premium knot and use a multitude of handles to suit your whim on a daily basis. it could be like a shaving brush system. I've never seen something like that before.

    So what do you think?

Theoretically it should be possible to make such solution, but would the interest be big enough for a brush maker to spend money on developing a brush system like that?

I see your point in having different handles for the same knot, but for me it wouldn't be interesting. The reason I have several brushes is just as much the different knots as the handles, both size, loft, type of hair and handle matter when I choose the brush I want to use for my shave.

Actually I think it would. I've seen enough posts from guys who take the time to make fantastic handles and then use some cheapo knot or have a stable of gorgeous brushes with basic knots. I think many would spring for the premium knot and switch the handles around.

A radical concept but you know years ago they made fun of Bill Gates.

What knots do you consider Premium?

Realistically, if you drill a handle deep enough the knot would stay put, without glue, well enough for a single use.
So, with the knots that are available, anyone that turns handles could make a variety of them and move a single knot around the bunch.

I'd be more inclined towards having a single handle that I'm comfortable with and having different knots. Same concept as yours, just the other way around.

you would have to fashion some sort of collar for the knot so that you're not tugging out the hairs every time you want to unscrew it from a handle.

Would be very simple to do with a spring clip arrangement, quarter turn lock/unlock,do not see any sense in doing it tho.

I bought a brush last year. I think I might buy another one in a couple years. But in the world where I do buy brush after brush, as you describe: I think it's an awesome idea! Fire up the lathe!!
