Microwaving objects which do not absorb RF energy well is a bad idea. Microwaving things that conduct RF energy well is an even worse one.

Isn't this all much ado about nothing? Good heavens, just soak it for a couple minutes in 91% isopropyl alcohol, wash in borax, then shampoo and condition and it'll be fine. That's the same grade alcohol I use to clean out an estate (used) tobacco pipe before I smoke it, and it works just fine.

Just wondering since I haven't had lice since I was like 7 years old, but I remember the 'shampoo' to be the most biting toxic thing ever, which probably doesn't bode well for a brush?
Nuking seems a bit drastic though. Why would your SO or childeren use your brush? Children get lice from one another in school swapping clothes/hats etc. or rubbing head to head. So your brush needs to be very close to a source of lice to become colonized, I would reckon. Lice aren't long distance runners AFAIK.

Or put the brush in the freezing compartment of your fridge for 24 hours.
