How many brushes do I need???
I have one travel brush which I only use on the road, and I have one great shaving brush that I love which is a kent bk8. I want my kent to last as long as possible, is it healthy for the brush to use it every day or every other day, or is it best to have at least two brushes so your only using the brush maybe every 3 -4 days. I cant imagine it matters, and the more I think about it, the more I think I am asking for justification in eventualyl buying a new brush when I start working again, but out of curiosity, how many brushes do you think I need in order to not over use my current brush?

You only NEED one brush. Years ago, I don't think it was common for a many to have more than one. The question is...how many do you want? I like variety, so I have, well, too many, but I'm not giving any of them up!

You gotta be kidding with that question right? How many razors do you need? How many strops do you need? How many soaps do you need? yada, yada yada.
You only need one of everything. RT is correct. How many of everything do you want?No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

You only need one. I have 5. A C&E badger, a Rooney Silvertip (thanks Izlat), and 3 Omega boar (1 large, 2 medium). About the only ones I ever use anymore are the Rooney and one of the medium Omegas.

I only have two, a Burma Shave and a
Vulfix silvertip. I'm wanting more but
fighting the desire. Hope I can win out.
Thinking the money would be better spent
on a razor(s).
Damn this addiction.

Well I dont have BAD, I would like one more brush from Matter eventually when I am working again, because I think they are pretty, and I want to feel what the best quality badger hair feels like. But I really meant need not want, I just was wondering if the life span of the brush suffers much if used more often, or if it is an even ratio between use and wear regardless of the time in between uses.

My guess is a good quality brush would
last for many many years if properly
cared for. I mean whats the bristles
touching? Skin and soap.

The weakest link in your brush is the glue/epoxy. Proper care and you may find you are using it 20 years from now.

Not counting a travel brush, the number for me is two used in rotation - that way each brush has a chance to dry properly betweeen uses. (I have more, but could live with just two).
If you only have one, I would consider getting a stand so that it has a better chance to dry out overnight.
