Thanked: 2027How many times have you used the new brush?
some shedding is normal when you consider a 22mm knot has an estamated 10K hairs.
After maybe 20 use cycles this should subside but a hair or two will show up on occasion.
If you think buying a simpson is the cure, trust me,your wrong.Good luck.

Good to know on all accts sir. Thanks for the advice-it's on only about shave # 6-7 now so that's what I figured. If a Simpson isn't the right way to go,what's your opinion? Id like 2-- a really good quality silver tip and a good boars hair later. I have good hopes for this one currently in my possession, but I'll return it again if it falters much more.

Thanked: 2027Give it some more time,Simpson,Rooney,Thater,Plisson, all make fine top of the line brushes, but all will shed to a point.
All my brushes are homebrew TGNs,they all shed in the beginning, than they stop except for an errant hair now and than. The same as any other shaving brush.

How long is "the beginning"? One year? Two years?
I'm still getting enough shedding to be annoying 3 of every 4 shaves. The knot is a year old and I feel like i'm babying it, like it's the most delicate thing in the room.

update: another contact with the supplier yielded a replacement knot. and also I ordered from the other source too. BADLast edited by WadePatton; 01-20-2014 at 10:47 PM.
