Thanked: 13Shaving Mugs
Hi All,
I have bought a shaving mug from ebay that arraived today . I've tried it and my kent soap fits really nicely into it. The link is:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...9955&rd=1&rd=1
It also came with a brush that seems like it is made out of wood (the brisels that is)! So I might just throw it away.
Hoever, I was woundering what the big gap in the middle is for. That is, the bit that looks like tea should come out of it. I origionally throught that it was to catch the water from the soap, but after using it I found that this isn't true because no water comes through. I though this because of the holes just under where the soap goes.
So, does anyone know what this part of the mug is for?
Cheers for any advice.
Steven

The part underneath is to hold hot water for your shave. It's not needed as much these days when we have hot water piped into our bathrooms.

yep hold hot water underneath this keeps the lather hot, i use the same kind of method and float a metal tin in the boiling water from the sink seems to work ok, you will find out the best way for yourself

That is called a shaving scuttle. Hot water in the bottom you can sit your brush in it and then work up a lather and it is pretty hot going on your face. I have one I got from classic shaving and use it when I have more time it really rocks.
