Thanked: 0vdh boar brush to thater two band closer shave?
I've been using a VDH boar brush for the last 6 months and getting good results. I stepped up to a two band thater today and was surprised that the blade seemed to glide better over my skin and I got a noticeably closer shave. I used the same prorasso cream I've been using for a while now. Has anyone else had the same experience with going to a better brush? Couldn't make any logical sense out of it.

The only logical thing I can think of is that you made better lather so your shave went better.
The other not so logical thing is you thought the Thater brush was that much better that you thought your lather was that much better so you shaved with more confidence.

I expect this is the case. It would seem you stepped up, indeed! From the bottom to the top! Lots more, smoother, creamier lather. That would do it too! Congrats

I rest my case.

I suspect after spending more money on a better brush you had expectations of a better shave and they came true. As to why? There could be many reasons however I don't think the brush is directly one of them.
For my part changing brushes has never made a difference is the quality of the shave I got.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 0I didn't really expect a better shave, I was pleasantly surprised by it. Also, I had a hard time lathering. i kept ending up with too much water and needed to add a lot more cream than I normally do. So it seems this is not the norm. The only thing I thought was because the brush was smoother on my skin that it didn't raise the bumps on my skin.
Nice to get an added benefit other than just feeling good for my money. Thanks for the responses
