You get what you pay for... AOS Shaving Brush
So, a little short on cash, but wanting to expand my brush collection, I checked out eBay for a bargain on a brush.
I found an AOS Fine Brush for auction. The brush was new in the sealed box and the seller was stating that it was a gift for her husband and that he used only shaving creams that do not require a brush.
After clearing my work calendar to be available for the end of the auction, I won the brush for $25 ( a $110 brush ). The brush delivered yesterday and I tried to use it today. The brushed arrived sealed in the original manufacturers box.
Within the first 10 swirls the brush lost literally over 50-60 hairs. Within the next 10 swirls I lost another 60-75 hairs. Needless to say, I stopped right there and the brush is in the garbage. I may try to separate the knot and handle and purchase a replacement knot.
Like I said, I guess you get what you pay for.

While that is highly unusual of any brush it doesn't mean the brush is dead.
Brushes have a ton of hair and can afford to lose quiet a lot of hairs and still be good.
You could contact aos and see if they will stick by there product. Odds are that since you purchased it not directly from AOS they won't but it is always worth a try.
As a last resort you could try glueing the very base of the knot. But thus will change the characteristic of the brush.

Thanked: 3226Yea, you got nothing to loose and everything to gain by contacting AOS and explaining to them what is happening with the brush and ask them what they can do about it.

Whatever you may think of AOS they do make quality products. The brush is made by a well respected maker and is not a cheapo product. I would have contacted AOS. I'd be willing to bet they would have replaced it even without a sales receipt.

Thanked: 21Before I knew thus site existed and ill step back and say I never was one to follow the heard, I have at least been using a brush and soap for about 7 or so years, not forever but bot new. And I only knew about AOS their service and products are incredible. I've been using all their lemon products for a while and actually have 3 of their brushes one is still in the box and will probably never get used as I already have the actual one in the rotation.(if someone wants it let me know, its a pure) if you call their corporate number they will more then likely replace it or discount a new one. Just my opinion.
Respectfully,
Christian

I had an AOS fine badger brush that shed like nobody's business. I took it to a local AOS store and they replaced it right there, no questions asked. I was very impressed with their customer service. The new brush is incredible, and it does not shed.

Thanked: 1371Without seeing the brush it's hard to say what's going on.
Sometimes with an overstuffed knot, some shedding is normal for the first couple of uses. There's thousands of hairs in there...
Did the knot seem thin after the shedding, or if you hadn't seen it shed would it have not been noticeable? If it gets thin, or continues to shed it's a problem. If you lose a few the first couple of times and then it stabilizes, it's no big deal.
