    Default new wd badger.

just got a pure badger from whipped dog. i rinsed it shook it out to lather and badger funk went everywhere. needless to say i rinsed it again. the first lather was not great, the second was not great.both of the dried out halfway through the cheeks. third lather i got water to product ratio right. BOOM I have this glistenin foamy sudsy lather that lays on thick and beautiful. The badger works great for still having a good stiffness but is soft enough to be nice on the face. fantastic brush, great step up from boar.

having said that are brushes like shoes, if you alternate will they last longer?

Yes, alternating will make them last longer so my advise is to buy as many brushes as possible to be able to alternate as often as possible. But really a quality brush should last you many years. Glad you got your water ratio right. I have a pure badger brush and use it when i want the stiffness that it provides.

My badgers always soak for 2 minutes at least while Im getting ready. And if you wanna kill the funk smell, barbicide for 5 minutes, warm rinse, soak and lather and rinse in hot water. And shake outand dry. No funk smell.

Any new brush I get in I actually give it a bath & use my shampoo x2 & then condition it...just like I do my head. Really deals with any funk!

I'm looking at the same brush. However, I'm stuck....I have a pure badger Simpson 22 mm.....do I go bigger ...a 24,26...30? Do I go badger or silver tip? I have heard many good things about a silver tip. How do I know what size? You like yours I assume gunsanbibles?

Silver tip is too soft for me. I use Parker pure badgers. My son has a silver tip that is a little too soft IMO. I got 2 26 mm knot Parker's and a 22 mm best badger. I like the bigger but if you load it up you might get 6 passes out of it and I only do 2.

yeah the funk left after the second shave. it appears that I'm going to have to return to experimenting with bowl only lathering. i get a great lather puck in with the boar but i think the badger picks up too much soap that way. unless i just need a lot more water with badger

I face lather with the badger. It's much easier then the bowl. Just use the tips. I don't need much water at all to load the brush. Between passes I might run a dap or two of hot water in the brush. Depend on the soap too I guess.
