Thread: Allergic to badger brushes any suggestions?

I have found out through process of alimination that the brushes are causing my inflamed itchy skin around my neck after I shave. I have natural pet dander allergies and this must be similar. What is a good synthetic brush to use? I recently purchased a Parkur.

If you like the feel of badger take a look at the Muhle synthetic silver tip badger brushes. I have that in their travel brush version and it lathers soaps like MWF and creams equally well. Surprised the heck out of me how well it worked.

You know what dander is right? If it is an allergy it should be present on the face as well but to lesser degree. Have you try soaking your brush in vinegar, that should eliminate most organic allergens that might still be present.

do you know if you are allergic to boar too also what type of badger brush do you have if its a scritchy brush you might be irritating your face with it that way. when ihave razor burn and usea boar i get inflamed. doesn't happen with my silver tip

Use a boars hair brush or synthetic and put the badger on eBay.

i saw the Muhle Synthetic brush in a package real cheap a couple weeks ago , didnt like the handle so i passed but i found them on a google search ..

A brush has been processed so much there is no dander on it unless you got it from some independent guy who traps the animals and processes everything himself. I would guess the hair is stiff and irritating you.

Dander= Dead skin . I am highly allergic as well and have no issues with Boar or Badger. Washing the brush should eliminate the residual dander left after collection and manufacture.

I believe some brushes are too coarse or scratchy for some faces. I have 2 pure 1 best and 1 silvertip. Never had problems with either but you might. I don't have any info on synthetics. Maybe try hand lathering with a cream to see if that helps. I never used a synthetic.
