How many people do this?
I really enjoy using my Simpson Chubby #1 (23.5 x 46.5) and Simpson Classic #1 (22 x 46) but when I set them down on their handles between passes the lather falls on to the handle and they get slippery. So I started to hang them upside down between passes. How many of you guys do that? I'm thinking about getting a Simpson Tulip, it has a "lip" so that should stop the lather from falling on to the handle. What do you guys think?

I leave my brush in the bowl/mug/scuttle when I lather so I have never really had this issue. I will say that unless I make a really wet lather it will stay in place on whatever I smear it on. If you are looking for a "sound" reason to buy a new brush I think you have it!
I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

Thanked: 1195I agree. I can't recall having that problem before (lather running down the handle).
As for resting between passes, since I prefer bowl lathering I simply place my brush into the lather bowl. But for face latherers (which I assume you're among) putting the brush in the stand will do just fine.

I bowl or face lather -- depending on the shave soap or cream I use -- and always set the brush on its handle during passes, but I've never had the lather fall down to the handle. It sounds like you're using too much water and getting a wet lather. Or you're getting too much foamy lather on the brush tip, and some of the top-heavy foam falls off.
I notice that when I bowl lather too quickly and end up with excessive lather spilling out of the bowl, some of the lather gets on the brush handle. The handle gets slippery after that. Is that happening to you?You can take the boy out of NY, but you can't take NY out of the boy.

Thanked: 247I always have a mug regardless of if I'm lathering in the mug or on my mug. The brush rests in the mug when it's not on my mug.
If I didn't have a mug, I'd just lay the brush on the counter top on its side (picking up an inverted brush full of lather and inverting it to set it back down sounds like a pain)
Just my thoughts...

My solution was to get a bowl with a brush rest. Hart has them, they are also made of resin, which is nice for the not so graceful moments.
