I've been working on spinning a few brushes recently and this is the first one done. It's a 24mm Grade A silvertip from The Golden Nib in real Lignum Vitae with a birds eye maple end cap. This was my first time turning Lignum and I have to say what a treat it was. Certainly wont be the last. Because of the super high oil content in the wood, the tools just glide across its surface like its constantly being lubricated.
The knot had a short loft to begin with so its been set at 52mm with epoxy. I finished it with a dark tinted paste wax which gives the maple a nice antique look. It was then buffed to a nice glossy glow. With its slightly longer handle, this will be a great bowl lathering brush.
