Thanked: 2284Ironwood burl shave brush.
This is Pyinkado Ironwood burl with a 26mm TGN finest 2 band. Loft set at 52mm, should make for an excellent all round brush. This burl has great figure in it, and after I applied 3 coats of Marine teakwood oil, it really popped. This wood is super hard and super heavy, which makes it feel great in the hand.

Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Very stunning. I really like the rich color.
Is Hop Hornbeam the same thing as Ironwood?

Thanked: 2284Ironwood is a category of trees known for how hard they are. There's a lot of species that fit in that category. Hophornbeam is one. I know its leaf looks a lot like an elm tree leaf. I worked on a job that had a tree I thought was an Elm. The owner told me he wasn't sure if it was an Elm or a Hophornbeam. The best way to tell is the buds it gets look an awful lot like hops that you would use for beer. I've yet to work with Hophornbeam, maybe I'll have to see if I can find some.
