Thanked: 1936I recently redid the stock on a old double barrel shotgun I had picked up and oil was my choice too. I love the natural warmth it gives.

Thanked: 2027Am a Fanatic when in comes to finishing fine woods,I find the old ways to be the best.
One summer I had a Job at Bosendorfer Pianos in San francisco.
These old german guys would spend days hand sanding parts down to rottenstone and oil.
Than they would desolve real Lacquers (was in flake form) Rub it in, knock it off, repeat over and over until the woods glowed.
Was amazing.CAUTION
