As I Said in post #6 waste is a major factor,This is a 5x.750 dowel I am making for a custom pool que maker.
Start out with a pound of Ivory to get a 4 oz. finished product
Brush handles create far more waste,to make a large brush Like a Simpson PJ 3 or a big polo, you start with 2 lbs of material.

    I still want one

Even a small handle like a chubby size would be cool...

They are not what they seem,Are Beautifull without question, but they are very heavy and have a tendancy to crack if not well cared for.

This is the sad part of the ivory use or trade, the thought that a majestic animal has died (hopefully from old age) and a large portion of the ivory it was more than likely killed for is just going to waste,
at least it is good to see something that will get decades if not centuries of use has been made from it, as it does look stunning with a sense of opulence to it when finished.
    Saved,
    to shave another day.

Is there a way to reconstitute the waste material? maybe mixing into acrylic resin? I know it's not the same but the thought just struck me that there are kits to make your own resin turning blanks...

Ah, a little Known secret for using Ivory waste I may be the only person on the planet that knows this.
But as I age I best share this,You Pulverise the waste into micron sized particles,Than you rub it into a paddle strop.
Take a blade, any blade,no need to have a proper bevel set, tweny light strokes, you will have the finest shaving edge ever created
