    It's such an out of this world idea to me, to be using stone as a material for a brush handle. Love it!!!

    Hey that looks nice. I seem to remember someone making a Kamisori stand out of soapstone and he mentioned how nice it was to work with. Thanks for sharing!

    Looks awesome is it ivory & horn with it?
    How does the stone go weight wise?

    At 109 Gms it has some heft to it,large ivory inlay in the base,soapstone,a band of musk ox horn,the top is Buffalo horn, the Knot is 24mm.
    Only downside working with it is it is very dusty.

    Just an FYI:

    BE CAREFUL TURNING THIS!

    You are creating gypsum dust silicosis which is VERY dangerous!
    You need a good filtering mask NO paper dust masks!
    Also protect family members from second hand breathing of the dust and vacuum the shop well when you are finished...wearing the mask.

    I would not have thought of soap stone. Great idea, I'm going to have you make me one with the whole handle out of Soap stone!!!!!!!!!
