    Ya, I tried soap stone a while back. Before I had my talon chuck. I tried it between centers, and my tailstock pushed right through it. I should give it another try without the tailstock. Sorry to see that happen.

    Have turned many between centers with no issues,have two Talon Chucks,just do not like losing material using them.
