Buckeye is not a wood I am familiar to hearing about in the Midwest. Does it go by another name?

Very nice. The grain just seems to swirl in that piece.

That is one beautiful brush. Did you stabilize the burl?

That is stunning Buckeye Burl with that blue/grey/burl and a lovely handle design all in delightful proportion to the knot.

I vacuum treat it with a marine teak oil. It works well for these softer woods. The spray on poly also helps keep water out.

Andrew, I hope you don't mind me intruding on your post but I thought it would be a good place to show your brush that arrived with me recently. I don't have outdoor pics unfortunately. The other brush was made by another contributor to this thread, Steve (NOTSHARP) in Scotland.

No problem Rob. I'd love to have my work posted beside Steves. His brushes are beautiful pieces of art. I actually have a somewhat decent pic of your brush. Another Buckeye burl brush in a Barber style handle. Just love this Buckeye Burl, it's gorgeous stuff.

And of course my phone flips it sideways. I'll fix it when I'm home on my laptop.
